SOUha Backdrop No.003 "TAMARINDO" / Tamarind Leaves
SOUha Backdrop No.003 "TAMARINDO" / Tamarind Leaves
TAMARINDO (タマリンド) is a premium botanical backdrop crafted by incorporating the actual leaves of the tamarind tree—a species native to regions such as Southeast Asia—directly into a specialized, artisanal papermaking process.
By utilizing the natural leaves in their organic, unaltered form without synthetic processing, this backdrop preserves the structural reality and raw presence of nature. When viewed up close, the intricate web of leaf veins is clearly visible to the naked eye, delivering a genuine, non-digital texture that cannot be replicated by AI image generation.
Furthermore, this backdrop features an intelligent dual-layer engineering, with a metallic aluminum sheet meticulously lined on the reverse side of the paper base. This design is intentionally calibrated to embrace a beautiful, gradual aging process; as the natural botanical texture gently matures over time, a subtle silver glimmer is designed to peek through the organic layers. Rather than a defect, this evolution allows the raw organic matter and the structural metal to harmonize, developing a rich vintage patina and a deep, evolving character unique to natural materials. "TAMARINDO" provides a precise, fact-based organic foundation that transforms beautifully with time, blending raw botanical elements with timeless durability.

Is this an authentic piece? How should I care for it?
▶Unlike mass-produced vinyl prints, our products are crafted using genuine natural materials such as Washi paper, gold leaf, linen, stone, and real leaves. Each piece is individually finished by skilled Japanese artisans to ensure a unique texture and depth. To maintain its quality, gently remove dust with a soft brush or air duster. We recommend avoiding direct sunlight to preserve its authentic luster for decades.
Can I use it for vertical shots, or only for flat lays?
▶Absolutely. Since the material is flexible and paper-like, you can easily hang it vertically using clips to create a professional backdrop for straight-on shots. Beyond flat lays, the authentic physical textures capture light in a way that creates incredible depth. By using side lighting, you can achieve a sophisticated play of shadows and textures that changes beautifully with every angle.
I saw some comments mentioning it wrinkles easily, so I was a bit worried, but it ships rolled on a core tube. As long as you keep it rolled up on the tube, it won't wrinkle at all. If you treat it roughly it'll crease, but with normal care, I’ve had zero issues with wrinkling. The material is stunning! It really makes you appreciate how different the real deal is. I love how the subtle stems mixed in with the leaves create this gorgeous, tactile texture!
Genuine leaves right in there. If you look closely, you can actually see the fine leaf veins.
Fell in love with the texture and had to get it. It doesn't look like a cheap print; having real leaves embedded gives it such a special, premium feel. It looks amazing. I'm planning to use it as a background for shooting organic products.
Surprised by how lightweight it is. It's about as thick as heavy cardstock, so it can bend easily. Japanese washi paper is delicate, so you definitely need to handle it with care, otherwise it'll end up full of crease marks.
Since it's washi paper, you can't just wipe off stains. It doesn't seem to mix well with dirt, stones, or water. I make sure to only use clean botanicals for styling when shooting products. That said, placing a perfume bottle on it created this gorgeous reflection of the leaves through the glass—so much fun to shoot with!

This is truly one of a kind. Because the leaves are scattered randomly, no two sections look the same, which is my favorite part!
It comes rolled up so it has a bit of a natural curl to it. I just place small weights on the corners when shooting. It feels like a nice, thick piece of washi paper. Treat it gently and it should last a long time.
Probably a bit too short for full-body portraits. Upper-body shots are totally fine though! If they ever came out with a larger size—like around 2 yards wide and 5 yards high for full-body use—I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
I applied paste to the back and used it as actual wallpaper. I was a bit worried the paper might warp or bubble from the moisture, but it went up with zero issues. It brought such a natural, organic vibe to the space and completely revamped the room.
The size and weight are just right! You can easily roll it up to slide into small gaps, and carrying it around with one hand is effortless—zero stress.
These leaves look insanely realistic! Well, I guess because they actually are real.
