Is this an authentic piece? How should I care for it?
▶Unlike mass-produced vinyl prints, our products are crafted using genuine natural materials such as Washi paper, gold leaf, linen, stone, and real leaves. Each piece is individually finished by skilled Japanese artisans to ensure a unique texture and depth. To maintain its quality, gently remove dust with a soft brush or air duster. We recommend avoiding direct sunlight to preserve its authentic luster for decades.
Can I use it for vertical shots, or only for flat lays?
▶Absolutely. Since the material is flexible and paper-like, you can easily hang it vertically using clips to create a professional backdrop for straight-on shots. Beyond flat lays, the authentic physical textures capture light in a way that creates incredible depth. By using side lighting, you can achieve a sophisticated play of shadows and textures that changes beautifully with every angle.

Since it's in a paper-like state, if you bend it, wrinkles will form and they won't go away.
Light from the side rather than light from the front makes the three-dimensional feel look much more beautiful.
Because it's paper-like, if you leave it out, the left and right sides curl a little bit. It's better to roll it up and put it away when you're done using it.
If a model steps on this, the material gets dented. Since it's about the thickness of heavy paper, I use it strictly for backgrounds or flat-lay photography to avoid anyone stepping on it.

It only comes in silver, so I think it would be nice if there were color variations like gold or copper.

Since it feels like aluminum and paper are bonded together, it has a rolling memory and inevitably curls even if you want to use it flat. Putting weights on the four corners works, but it's a bit of a hassle.
I own 5 SOUha products, and the portability is just effortless. When I want a stainless steel background at an on-location shoot, I used to send heavy panels in advance, but with this, I just roll up 5 pieces and put them in a tube, which makes it quite easy.
However, because it's thin and light, it bends easily, and once it's bent, the mark doesn't disappear, so I have to handle it with quite a bit of care. I wonder if it can't be made sturdy because it's not an artificial material? I've accepted that as just how natural materials are and use it with that mindset. The expression is quite unique, but I love that it's not too assertive.
I wanted to take pictures with earrings placed on top of stainless steel, so I tried using this. It works quite well! I had always used only colored paper, so being able to show the material's expression and three-dimensional feel made me feel a bit happy, like my photography quality had gone up a level.
The pattern looks different depending on how the light hits it, so it's quite fun to shoot with.
